Reference

The Reference Desk is staffed by three stunning and highly intelligent women. Both Amy and Jennifer have Master's degrees in library science, and Beth is working towards her own Master's. All have spent many years in libraries and all enjoy their jobs.

The three-fold mission of the Reference Staff is thus: answer any and all questions to the best of their abilities; create and implement engaging adult programs; and provide patrons with a creative and useful Reader's Advisory service.

In addition to this, the Reference Staff provides various other services and help. If you have a question, please give them a call at (208) 733-2964 ext 109, or email them at tfpl@twinfallspubliclibrary.org.

Idaho and Pacific Northwest History Room

The Idaho and Pacific Northwest History Room (the Idaho Room) is located on the main floor of the Library. This special room contains rare books, manuscripts, pamphlets, scrapbooks, oral histories, and other materials that relate to the history of Twin Falls, the Magic Valley, Idaho, and the Pacific Northwest regions. The Clarence E. Bisbee Photograph Collection contains historical photographs of the early development of the Magic Valley. To gain access to this room, you must sign in at the Reference Desk and leave your Library card or photo ID. Large bags, purses, and briefcases are not allowed in the Room, nor are food and drink. Items from the Idaho Room cannot be checked out, but copies can be made, at 15¢ per page.

Obituaries/Newspaper Articles

The Twin Falls Public Library has microfilmed of the Times-News dating back to 1904, in addition to several other newspapers of local early towns. The Library owns three microfilm readers, and we invite you to stop at the Reference Desk to learn how to search the microfilm. If you don't live in the Twin Falls area, you can request copies of obituaries or newspaper articles. The request MUST be in writing. You can mail it to: Reference Desk, Twin Falls Public Library, 201 4th Ave E, Twin Falls, ID 83301; or by email at: tfpl@twinfallspubliclibrary.org. Fees are $1.50 for the first page of each search and 25¢ for every page thereafter. Please include all possible information and your address. We will bill you after we've completed the search. Please allow 7-10 days for our volunteer to find the item.

In 2009, the Library began a digitization project which allows people to search the Times-News. This project can be accessed here. To get the user name and password, please contact the Reference Desk.
