Ready, Set, Kindergarten
10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Youth ProgramReady, Set Kindergarten! is a program for kids who are entering kindergarten in Fall 2024. Each week, kids will earn a new letter, a kindergarten readiness concept, work on numbers, participate in hands-on activities, and parents will receive a worksheet to take home with suggestions of activities to do with their children.
Basics of Fair Housing & Hot Topics (W/ IFHC & Idaho Legal Aid)
1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Adult ProgramJoin us at the Twin Falls Public Library for this Fair Housing Basics workshop, in partnership with the Intermountain Fair Housing Council & Idaho Legal Aid! At this workshop you will learn about your rights as a tenant under the Fair Housing Act as well as other current topics in fair housing. This 4 hour workshop will take place in the Program Room on Wednesday, May 15th, from 1 PM - 5 PM.
1:00 PM: Fair Housing Basics
2:00 PM: Fair Housing Hot Topics
4:00 PM: Reasonable Accommodations and Modifications, Assistance Animals
About the Presenters:
Mike McCarthy graduated from law school at the University of Idaho in 1985. Since that time Mike has practiced at Idaho Legal Aid Services Inc. in Twin Falls. Our office serves the Magic Valley. The focus of my practice has been in the areas of evictions, the Fair Housing Act, Medicaid, Social Security disability, guardianships and domestic violence related cases.
Peg Richards joined IFHC in October 2022 as the Education Project Director. Her background includes working with people experiencing homelessness, oversight of a low-income housing program, advocating for the disenfranchised, and educating our community about the experiences of people with whom she has worked with for the past two decades. Peg has contributed to the IFHC team by creating curriculum for Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing, creating our Inclusive Community & Construction and Design updated guides, oversees our statewide media outreach, and other educational materials. And is currently providing multiple opportunities across the state, to ensure all Idahoans understand housing rights, how to advocate for their rights, along with Fair Housing laws, hot topics, and best practices.
